Giving Thanks & Last Call for Fall Colours!
This past week, the new Foothills Farm arena officially opened for business with our riders and their horses experiencing their first rides in what will be a state of the art facility. A lot of work remains to be done, but we're happy to say we're on the home stretch!
So... Your Horse is Stopping at the Jumps
There are many reasons that a horse stops at the jumps. If it is a single stop in a riding lesson, or at a horse show it doesn't mean that the horse has a problem with a stop. But if the horse continues to stop, in a lesson, in a horse show or during warm up for a horse show, you need to try to figure out why. To every problem there is a root!!
What To Do Between Lessons
There are many things that you can practice and make your half hour well worth your effort. Remember your horses are creatures of habit, everything you do is teaching them. They do not know when it becomes important to do a better job of something. Practice does not make perfect, PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. You are always the trainer.

We are all experiencing a very difficult time right now as barns have closed to the general public. This is usually the time when we are doing our homework to get ready for our show season. Hopefully within the not-too-distant future we will be told that we are allowed to go back and ride our horses.
Foothills Rider Profile: Isabelle Gauthier
When she’s not in the barn or the riding ring, this 21-year-old is studying social work at Laurentian University with the hopes of someday working with children or seniors. This year, Isabelle’s goal is to move up to the 1.10 and possibly the 1.20 in the A shows of the trillium circuit with Red, the horse she’s owned for six years.

The staff and riders of Foothills Farm are reeling from the heartbreaking news that our good friend, Canadian Olympic Champion Eric Lamaze, has been battling a cancerous brain tumour for the past year and a half. At the same time, we know that if anyone can beat such a devastating diagnosis, it is Eric.
